WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A LOGO AND BRANDING AND WHAT IS A LOGO VARIATION?
At the very basic level, logos are symbols made up of text and graphics that help us to identify brands. A good logo helps customers understand what you do, who you are and what you value.
Branding is more than just your logo, it is combined elements that make your business, product or services recognisable – it is your whole presence and should include a logo, colour palette, website and ‘tone of voice’ all styled consistently. Collectively, these things will make you stand out from the crowd and memorable no matter which platform your seen on.
A logo variation is a modified version of your logo that you use in specific instances: sometimes due to size or to vary your look (so you aren't having to just "put" your logo on every single thing you do). Logo variations normally include an icon and alternate logos.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A MOODBOARD, BRAND BOARD AND BRAND USAGE GUIDE?
A moodboard includes colour, texture, image and font inspiration that we have found based on your questionnaire answers. The moodboard is the starting point for your branding project and lays out initial style ideas (Please be aware that the colours, textures, images and fonts included in your moodboard will not necessarily be part of your final brand, but a starting point that we will build upon to create your final brand)
A brandbaord is created after your colour palette has been selected and your final logo has been created. It includes final colours, fonts, logo and logo variations, design elements such as patterns and textures, and image inspiration.
Brand usage guide
A brand usage guide includes your brandboard but details specific instructions on how to use your brand elements. It is a document that describes, defines and presents examples of how your brand should look in various visual media.
WHY DO I NEED A COLOUR PALETTE?
It’s important for the colours you use throughout your brand to be consistent, repetition of the same colours can strengthen brand awareness and play a role in creating an instantly recognisable brand. The colour palette we create for you will include 4-6 colours and it will sit within your brand board and brand usage guide.
WHY DO I NEED MORE THAN ONE FONT?
Your brand should include 2-3 fonts that can be used in different instances. The main typography used in your logo may be bespoke and artistic and won’t always be appropriate to use, for example in body text for a flyer or your website therefore we use secondary fonts that can be used for sub-headings and body text.
WHAT IF I'M NOT HAPPY WITH MY LOGO/BRANDING AFTER 3 ROUNDS OF REFINEMENTS?
Given our process we’re confident that you’ll be happy by the time we reach round 3 of refinements, but if for some reason you’re not 100% we can continue refinements at our hourly rate of £35. .
CAN YOU CREATE MY BRAND QUICKER THAN YOUR SUGGESTED TIMESCALE?
Sometimes we have the flexibility to prioritise your project and place it on our express list if we have other clients who are looking at a more drawn out timescale. It’s always worth getting in touch and we can let you know if this is a possibility.

Before work can commence on your project we need the following:
- Our digital terms & conditions signed and sent back to us
- Your 50% deposit
- Completed questionnaire including your business details
We might be creative, but we still need you to do your own research:
- An idea or examples of styles you like, things you dislike, colours you like
- The demographic of your target audience
